Utell’s hotelbook.com Reports 21% Increase in Revenue
in Press releases by marcel van der laan
Recent press release from Utell Hotels & Resorts stated that over the first 8 months of 2008, Utell Hotels & Resorts has gained a 21 percent increase in revenue to hotels through it’s consumer targeted website hotelbook.com. Hotelbook, featuring Pegasus Solution’s technology and covering over 6000 properties in 2000 cities worldwide, also reported an average stay of 2.8 days and an increase in average room rate of £8 per night compared to rates in 2007.
According to Utell, the 21 percent increase (no actual numbers are mentioned) is a result of ongoing efforts and dedicated resources in the Hotelbook platform. In 2008 the website received a full redesign and strengthened it’s internal structure with the introduction of dedicated city landing pages. Also, Hotelbook increased their affiliate marketing activities. Additional features of the website are comprehensive travel guides, podcasts and a corporate blog.
Sharon Wimborne, director of E-Commerce for Utell described the increase in revenue; “We’ve further developed hotelbook this year to enable the independent and boutique hotels represented to better reach travelers globally seeking a unique and personalized experience,” said Wimborne. “The revenue results are evidence that our campaigns are delivering for both hotels and customers.”
It is hard to actually comment on the revenue increase of 21 percent for Hotelbook.com, as no actual numbers are mentioned. Obvious however is the fact that Utell is dedicating resources to their e-commerce platforms in addition to their distribution through other platforms such as voice reservations and global distribution systems.
