Nowadays many marketeers are still struggling with a huge challenge and opportunity for companies; implementing social media as a marketing channel and marketing instrument. Many marketeers do realize the importance of social media, however are struggling with successfully implementing social media as a part of the marketing campaigns and driving value from social media.
In an ingoing project about social media used within hospitality and travel industries we are defining what social media really is, looking for examples of companies having successfully implemented social media in their marketing efforts and determining whether social media really can no longer be ignored by travel and hospitality industry professionals.
With Travel being well suited for social media, think about the huge impact of user generated content on review sites such as tripadvisor, you would expect social media to be quite common for travel companies already for such a long time. However, the reality teaches us that still a lot of major companies are still struggling to implement social media.
As said, in this ongoing project we intend to publish an article about social media in the travel and hospitality industry at least once a week, resulting in a full featured guide on social media used in the travel and hospitality industry.
The first article scheduled this week describes how we are setting up resources on examples of social media used in the travel and hospitality industry. These resources will be updated over time as we experience more and more companies starting to use social media as a marketing channel and instrument.
